Tom Hanks may have just cemented his place as the nicest guy in show business by sending a flashy gift to the White House press corp.
The journalists covering president Donald Trump’s administration have had a rough run since he came into office, with some barred from attending briefings and others accused of publishing ‘fake news’.
Apparently thinking they might need a bit of a pick-me-up, Hanks sent them all an Italian espresso machine that retails between AU$2297 and AU$2929.
A number of journalists shared photos of the machine on social media along with the note Hanks wrote for them, saying: “Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Especially the truth part.”

It’s not the first time Hanks has shown his generous side either.
He’s known to go out of his way for fans, has been reported as one of Hollywood’s most generous tippers, and even stopped to take a photo with a couple on their wedding day after they spotted him in the park.
