Russell Crowe sends Terri Irwin a cheeky birthday tweet

While he’s been outspoken in the past in his anger over gossip magazines spreading romance rumours about him and Terri Irwin, Russell Crowe has let his sense of humour about the stories shine through in a tweet to Irwin in honour of her 52nd birthday yesterday.

The 53-year-old actor cheekily tweeted, “I have loved you in so many different magazines … haha … happy birthday to you!”

The cute message was repaid in kind as Irwin replied, “The last year has been full of surprises. I can’t wait for our next year of magazine love. Thank you for the birthday wishes.”

Rumours of a romance between the friends have been flying about, and denied by both Crowe, and Irwin’s daughter Bindi, who said that her dad Steve will always be the love of her mother’s life.

After a recent issue of Woman’s Day reported that Russell Crowe was dating an actress 30 years his junior, the actor took to Twitter to set the record straight.

“Can you not stuff your s**t filled pages with deliberate lies about relationships I’ve never been in? Thanks in advance,” read one tweet from Crowe.

He followed it up five minutes later with another post: “Don’t make me go all Rebel Wilson on your ass.”

Crowe was referring to a recent case where actress Rebel Wilson won a defamation case against Woman’s Day for claiming that she lied about her age.
