If you watched Sunday Night on Channel 7 last week (March 27), you might have seen a segment about celebrity chef Pete Evans.

In the segment he addressed some of the criticisms that have been levelled against him.

Part of the show was filmed at a Gut Health event, where Evans was chatting to Aussies about their health problems.

And while you might have thought Evans would have been happy with the coverage, it appears he had a few issues with it.

The controversial chef took to social media yesterday to criticise the producers of the show for a “wonderful opportunity missed for the Australian public”.

He apologised to his fans who attended the Gut Health event, especially those whose interviews never made the show.

“I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all the wonderful people who came to our Gut Health event and shared their amazing stories of reclaiming their health,” he wrote.

“I know that so many of you were interviewed (you told me your stories face to face) and then you openly and honestly told the host of the show on camera and it was filmed. You shared how you had come off medications or reduced them, how you had reversed type 2 diabetes as well as a host of other amazing health stories from autoimmunity to depression and more.

“For some reason, the producers decided that those stories were not as important and decided to air a lovely lady at the seminar, saying she was happy to have a selfie with me. I guess the producers thought that a selfie is what they deemed more important to the story, instead of sharing real life Australians, reclaiming their health through simple dietary changes that work. I personally believe that was a wonderful opportunity missed for the Australian public.”

Evans went on to say there was a lot more from his three hour interview with Sunday Night that didn’t make it to air.

“I do not consider myself to be a leader as they portrayed, but just one curious member of the public (tribe),” he wrote.

“We actually had 8 or so amazing speakers at our seminar that was filmed, and I was cooking for the majority of it while the others were doing the educating on stage as to how to improve our GUT HEALTH, and I am proud to stand beside these wonderful people and help give them a platform to reach many.”

Despite his criticisms, Evans encouraged his fans to “enjoy the segment with an open mind” and further their research.

He also thanked all his supporters, including his mum who appeared on the show.

“It is wonderful to see these important topics, such as grain free, dairy free, healthy fat, low carb, clean water, toxic ingredients in sunscreen and water, entering the mainstream media, and for people to be furthering their own research as to what works and what doesn’t,” he wrote.

Did you watch the show? What do you think of Pete Evan’s criticisms?
