Oprah hints at move into politics

Oprah could be gearing up for a change in career.

Television legend Oprah Winfrey has hinted for the fist time that she could be considering a move into politics.

Speaking to Bloomberg Politics, she said she had never seriously considered the idea until Donald Trump was elected as president.

“I actually never thought that that was – I never considered the question, even a possibility,” she said.

But when reality-show star and business mogul Trump beat Hillary Clinton, she said, “I just thought, ‘Oh! Oh!’

“I thought, ‘Oh, gee, I don’t have experience. I don’t know enough. I don’t’.

“And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh! Oh!'”

The interview was done in front of a live audience who cheered loudly when Oprah aired the possibility.

Trump is the first politician in decades to rise to the top job without any political career experience behind him.

Only three other presidents have served in the role without a political past – Zachary Taylor, Ulysses Grant, and Dwight Eisenhower – but all had held high-powered positions in the military.

With reports Oprah’s close friend and former first lady Michelle Obama is considering running for president in 2020, there could be some fierce competition ahead.

Do you think Oprah would make a good president? Are you a fan?
