Man’s incredible flash mob proposal at Waterloo Station wins hearts

Whether it’s a simple act or elaborate showcase of affection, a marriage proposal is a beautiful demonstration of love and commitment and often one of the most exciting moments in a person’s life.

Recently, flash mob proposals, which involve a bunch of strangers wowing the bride-to-be, have become a popular trend and the latest version has left people around the world in tears of happiness.

Adam Burroughs, a 25-year-old engineer from Suffolk, England, enlisted the help of a classical orchestra to pop the question to his sweetheart Mlayne Frost, in a romantic flash mob proposal at Waterloo Station, Britain’s busiest train station.

As the couple walked through the station, the orchestra stepped out from the crowds, breaking out violins, cellos and clarinets to play a mash up of the Hallelujah Chorus from ‘Handel’s Messiah’  and Bruno Mars’s ‘Just The Way You Are’ before Adam popped the question in front of stunned strangers.

“I’ve never been so nervous in my entire life. When we got to the station I was shaking,” Adam told the East Anglican Daily Times. “It wasn’t that I thought she was going to say no, it was just the whole event, with all my family there — I thought I’d be alright but I wasn’t, I was a wreck.”

Mlayne reportedly thought she was going to London to see the Lion King for her 25th birthday, on Sunday, October 28, and had no idea of Adam’s elaborate plans. It was only after the performance, when Adam opened a violin case to reveal the words ‘will you marry me’ that she realised he’d planned the special moment just for her. 

“I honestly thought we were getting in the way of someone else’s thing at first. I knew something was going to happen but I didn’t think it would be for us,” Mlayne added.

The romantic clip was shared on YouTube by TopSecret, an entertainment flash mob agency, and has been watched almost 8,000 times since it was shared on Wednesday. 

It comes after a flashmob choir paid a moving tribute to legendary Aussie conductor Richard Gill with stunning renditions of hits by ABBA and The Beatles in a packed-out music hall.

Hundreds of people flooded in to Sydney’s City Recital Hall as part of The Sydney Flash Mob Choir to sing ABBA’s ‘Thank You For The Music’ and The Beatles’ hit ‘Let It Be’ in memory of Gill, who passed away recently.

The Australian Romantic Classical Orchestra confirmed the musical legend had passed away in a moving statement over the weekend, revealing he had died at his home in Sydney following a battle with colorectal and peritoneal cancer.

Gill had worked with the choir in the past and even appeared with them last year in the very same music hall, so they organised the last minute flashmob appearance as a fitting tribute to his life and legacy.
