‘I feel like crumbling’: Mum of Angry Anderson’s son shares shock at his death

The heartbroken mother of Gary ‘Angry’ Anderson’s son has shared her horror over his tragic death in a moving interview with The Daily Telegraph, admitting she’s desperate to hold her son one last time before he’s cremated.

Liam Anderson, 26, died on November 4 after allegedly being beaten to death at Pavilion Park in the north Sydney suburb of Queenscliff. Mathew Flame, 20, has since been charged with his murder.

“I just want to hold my son one more time in my arms before he is cremated. I was the first person to hold him and I want to be the last,” Liam’s mother Lindy Anderson told publication.

Liam is the youngest of Lindy and Angry Anderson’s three sons. The couple raised four children together – Roxanne, Galen, Blaine and Liam – before divorcing in 2002. Now, Lindy has admitted she keeps imagining what happened to her son in the moments before his death.

“There’s a big hole in my heart right now,” she added to the news outlet. “I feel like crumbling but I am getting up every day because of Liam, he would not want me to break.”

According to court documents, seen by The Daily Telegraph previously, Liam and Flame had been partying with a group of friends just hours before the attack – allegedly with alcohol and drugs involved – before it ended at a house party in the northern beaches.

When Flame reportedly tried to leave the party alone, amid fears he may have overdosed, it’s claimed in the documents that Liam and others tried to persuade him to stay – before Liam went with him to accompany him away from the party.

Emergency services were later called to Pavilion Reserve just after 6am, following reports of an assault. Officers arrived to find a man, who was later confirmed as Liam, unconscious having suffered serious head injuries. According to reports, Liam was still being attacked when police arrived at the scene.

He died shortly after being airlifted to hospital via emergency helicopter due to the extent of his injuries. Detectives at the scene spoke to the Sydney Morning Herald shortly after the incident. They described the attacker as being violent with a number of police officers attempting to subdue and arrest him.

Liam’s father shared his own heartbreak shortly after his son’s death, revealing his anger at claims Liam was close friends with his accused attacker.

“I can’t in all honesty say that I care at this moment about the pain they (Mr Flame and his family) are going through, but I know one day I will,” he exclusively told The Australian.

“Right now don’t ask me for that sort of Christian compassion because I don’t have it.”

According to Perth Now, Angry Anderson was performing at a show in Perth at the Charles Hotel the night before the attack. His manager later released a statement from the family, asking for privacy from the media and general public.

“Following the death of Angry Anderson’s son Liam in Sydney in the early hours of Sunday morning November 4, 2018, the family has asked that media and the general public respect their privacy,” the Twitter post read.

“With the matter in the hands of NSW Police the family will not be making any comment at this stage, nor are we as Anderson’s management in a position to offer any any comment on their behalf.”
