Billy Joel welcomes baby girl, chooses unique name

Legendary singer Billy Joel is a father once again!

People reports that Joel and his wife Alexis welcomed their new daughter on Sunday at New York University Hospital and mother and baby are both doing well.

While some celebrity couples have shown a tendency to choose wild and wacky names for their new babies, the Joels have gone somewhere down the middle, naming their little girl, Remy Anne Joel.

A representative for Joel told People, “Alexis and Remy are doing well, and everyone is thrilled”.

Remy is Joel’s third child and his second with Alexis. The famed singer also shares a daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, with model Christie Brinkley.

People says both Alexa and Joel were in the delivery room to support Alexis during labour.

While most Baby Boomers are winding down in their 60s it seems Joel is just getting started.

He’ll no doubt have his hands full with nappy changes and midnight feeds for the next few months and has 18 years of child raising ahead of him!
