We the people…

Disappointed in what is happening in Federal politics?  May I remind you…

• We the people get the government we voted for;
• We the people said “Keep the bastards honest” and promptly take away the right of our representatives to govern;
• We the people have ensured that consecutive governments have been beholden to those with a miniscule primary vote;
• We the people give these minority minorities the right to govern the country in deed if not name;
• We the people disenfranchised ourselves by giving one policy parties the right to overrule the elected government;
• We the people substitute debate with name calling and then wonder why our politicians feel quite comfortable doing the same thing;
• We the people ensure that nothing gets done in this country by electing a House of Representatives, which is overruled by a contrary Senate;
• We the people allow our house of review, with the power of veto over lower house decisions, to include parties and individuals who are single policy parties.

Don’t  blame the government for your woes – we the people cause them yourselves! If we the people do not demand better from ourselves, why do we expect it from politicians?

So while we watch a dictator, prancing about our Parliament employing common bullying tactics, posing in front of the cameras, name calling, overruling the decisions of the people you elected, just remember who gave them this power?
