What pisses me off: Australia becoming a cashless society

Nov 17, 2013

What pisses me off this Sunday is this country becoming a cashless society.

Twice in one week I have outlaid big money on a medical specialist and an optical specialist. I swiped my card for my gap money to go back into my bank account and was told I have to wait for that to happen for maybe four working days. What happens if I cannot wait?  Some people just do not have the money on hand to have to wait. We pay and we get as pensioners, no discount from specialists. WHY do we have to wait for our money back from private insurance?

I went into the Medibank Office for one benefit owing to me as I couldn’t do it online, only to be told it would be in my bank within five business days. Not good enough. $275 to see a specialist for five minutes, to be told there was no real need for me to be there.  The Doctors tend to send people just because now. It pisses me off.

It was nice back in the day when we had our pay packet put into our hands and not have to check the bank online to see what our payroll amount is. Many people do not have nor use a computer yet it is also contact us at …..com.au now or tweet. I do however bless the day I taught myself how to on an old second hand computer that was given to me by my son in law. Many do not have that so have no options.

What do you think about Australia becoming a cashless society?
