Today’s Big Question: Television’s true potential

Jul 20, 2013

These are the big questions where you can have your say. This is an open space for discussion about some very confronting debates in out society. How do you feel? What do you think? These are the real Q&A for the Australian over 60s today.

“Television 60 years ago was seen as the greatest tool for education and information as well as entertainment ever invented. Has it lived up to its potential?”

FOR. Yes. There is plenty of educational and informative programming though you do have to go looking for it. For those without computers there are also University Courses you can study on television. With the number channels now available there really is something for everyone.

AGAINST. No. The programmers are still catering to the lowest common denominator and bombarding us with the cheapest reality and talent shows they can find, all in the name of making money. Many cannot afford Foxtel, and often can’t afford other forms of entertainment….so we are stuck with television – Good or bad.
