If respect is earned, do we deserve more respect just because we’ve lived longer?

FOR: Yes, age itself is something that should be respected. Many older people fought and struggled to make a world for the younger generation. That deserves universal respect for everyone who has reached a certain age.

AGAINST. No: Respect has to be earned whatever age you are. You can’t just demand it because you have reached senior status. There are young honourable people who deserve respect, just as there are older people who have not lived their lives well who do not deserve it. It has nothing to do with how old you are.
