The Biggest Loser is…

May 14, 2013

The biggest loser from tonight’s budget is clearly young, child-rearing age couples, who just lost their right to a new widescreen TV and surround sound system when they give birth to a child. It’s the Government gift that will no longer go on giving for the first five years of childhood.

No longer will they be able to spring for the latest release $1500 pram on taxpayers funds, and god forbid, they might just have to use second hand furniture…. The outcry from the mummy media over the next 48 hours is bound to be loud and passionate.  But do mothers really have a right to taxpayers funds when they give birth?  Or should it be just like where every other part of society is heading… towards “user pays”…

I mean really, we are making retirees pay for their own retirement by saving their super up over a long period of time, rather then handing them large, government funded pensions…

And we’re making businesses make it on their own or go to the wall without sizeable grants and support to keep them going indefinitely through hard times…

Why shouldn’t parents have to save up before they have kids…

What do you think…? Do you think the Government did the right thing by abolishing the baby bonus?
