He’s been the star of stage, big screen and small, and yesterday John Goodman was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“I can feel a part of Hollywood history now,” Goodman said at the event.

John is best known for playing Dan Conner in Roseanne from 1988 to 1997, for which he won a Best Actor Golden Globe award in 1993.

During this speech 64-year-old Goodman thanked his Roseanne Barr for her role in his career.

“Roseanne, thank you. I don’t think I’d be up here if it wasn’t for her,” he said.

She really took a lot of heat but she was always right and I love her.”

During the event John was given a tribute by Jeff Bridges, his co-star in The Big Lebowski.

Bridges not only wore the cardigan his character wore in that role, he referred to Goodman as Walter, the name of the character Goodman played.

“He’s a man of our times and he has become a legend”; Bridges said.

“In accordance with what we think may be your final wishes, we have committed to these sidewalks in the bosom of Hollywood that you love so well, a star for you.

“A star because we love you so well.”

Dan’s family, wife Annabeth and daughter Molly both attended the event.

John’s first television appearance was eating in a Burger King commercial, but he has gone on to many roles in movies, television and on stage.

From Fred in The Flintstones to the King of England in King Ralph, even the President of the United States in The West Wing, John has certainly showed his versatility.

He has been nominated multiple times for Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards, and was ranked no 13 in TV Guide’s list of 50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time in 2004.

Even his voice is well known, featuring in a large number of animated films, including Monsters Inc, Bee Movie and ParaNorman.

Dan, who has hosted Saturday Night Life 14 times, showed he still likes to have a good laugh.
