Beloved Disney icon Minnie Mouse is set to take on a new look, swapping out her iconic red polka-dotted dress for a matching blue pantsuit with the internet going crazy over the updated design.

Disneyland Paris released a drawing of the Disney character’s new look on Twitter last week, writing, “Stella McCartney has designed Minnie Mouse’s very first pantsuit, and it’s gorgeous”. The outfit change comes as McCartney’s fashion brand celebrates Women’s History Month and Disneyland commemorates its 30th anniversary.

British fashion designer, Stella McCartney took to Instagram to promote her new design, sharing TV segments from Jimmy Kimmel and The Late Late Show where the outfit change was discussed.

“This has been a long time coming. You’ve always worn the pants in the relationship, Minnie! x Stella”, she wrote on one post. “Minnie Mouse is major in her first-ever Stella McCartney pantsuit at Disney and Paris! Seems like something as basic as progress has pushed a few buttons…x Stella,” she wrote on another.

Fans and lovers of the esteemed Minnie Mouse were quick to react to the surprising change, many outraged by the decision to re-design her historically iconic look and others in full support of the change.

“I don’t care that it’s a pantsuit. I care that it’s hideous,” one wrote.

“I will never watch, buy Disney products or visit Disney Land or World ever again. They want to de feminized Minnie Mouse. This goes deeper than a cartoon.”

“Just stop. Woke society is ruining literally everything.”

“I wonder what’s next, a dress on MICKEY?,” another added.

Other users argued that the change was necessary, supporting the switch to a uni-sex outfit and pointing out that Minnie had previously worn pants many times.

“Women…wear..pants.too,” one commented.

“Imagine thinking that somehow women wearing suits are woke as if she’s not a cartoon character.”

“This ain’t the first time guys chill this photo is years old and no one cared,” another wrote.

In a television interview with Fox News, conservative political activist Candace Owens slammed the change to Minni’s outfit, “They’re taking all these things that no one was offended by and they feel like they have to get rid of them and destroy them because they’re bored, they’re trying to destroy the fabrics of our society.”

Minnie’s outfit switch isn’t the only change stirring currently stirring up the internet, with the recent announcement that candy brand ‘M&M’s’ have also re-designed their female M&M’s.

The green M&M’s previous high-heeled boots have been swapped for sneakers and the brown M&M has had her stilettos swapped out for black heels.
