Ivanka Trump booed after defending her father

The First Daughter was met with a hostile crowed at the women's event.

Ivanka Trump has been met with boos and hisses after defending her father’s treatment of women at an event in Berlin overnight.

The First Daughter attended the prestigious W20 Summit in Germany to discuss women’s issues when she was asked to comment on her father’s attitude towards women.

As she described him as “a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive,” she drew boos and hisses from the audience, prompting moderator Miriam Meckel to press her for a response.

“You hear the reaction from the audience, so I need to address one more point,” said Meckel, the editor of a business magazine and a professor of corporate communications at a Swiss university.

“Some attitudes toward women your father has publicly displayed in former times might leave someone questioning whether he is such an empowerer for women. Are things changing?”

Trump replied: “I’ve certainly heard the criticism from the media, and that’s been perpetuated.”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was also on the panel and watched on as Trump said she believed her father had shown enormous respect for women throughout the primary campaign and his presidency.

Trump’s election campaign was plagued with accusations against him from women alleging abuse and came to a head when an audio recording of him talking graphically about a woman’s crotch was released.

He was also publicly ridiculed for appearing to refuse to shake Merkel’s hand when she met with him at the White House in March.

However, Trump appeared unfazed by the crowd’s reaction, brushing it off and saying: “I’m used to it. It’s fine.”

Do you think the crowd was wrong to boo her? Or do they have a point?
