Clive Palmer says Australia just like ‘Nazi Germany’

The former PUP leader has appeared in court again.

Billionaire Clive Palmer has made a weary appearance in court today, carrying a sick bag and claiming to be on morphine as he faced questioning over his company’s corporate collapse.

Liquidators for the former politician’s failed company Queensland Nickel cross-examined him in the Brisbane court in their attempt to recoup $300 million for creditors.

Palmer was flanked by a mystery minder dressed in black, who read an impassioned statement on his behalf outside the court.

“No amount of pressure will force me to withdraw my legal proceedings against Prime Minister (Malcolm) Turnbull and Senator (Michaelia) Cash, which I commenced last year,” the minder told reporters.

“Today is about the Senate inquiry into Campbell Newman and his government, and payback for me initiating that inquiry. Surgery and intensive care, pain and duress, and currently on morphine, all confirmed by the court, regardless I’m dragged into the court today.

“This would only happen in Nazi Germany.

“Citizens’ rights, human rights, need to be respected. Our justice system should be free from political interference but unfortunately it is not. I witnessed it during my 40 years in the Liberal National Party and at other times I’ve seen it at work. It makes me feel ashamed to live in a land where justice is a game.”

Before Palmer took to the stand,  his lawyer told the court: “(Clive) Palmer has been taking further amounts of (morphine drug) Targin in the last 24 hours.”

Reporters from inside the courtroom posted a play-by-play of proceedings on social media, saying Palmer was repeatedly reminded by his lawyer to claim privilege when answering questions so as not to incriminate himself.
