Rita Wilson has posted a loving birthday tribute to her husband of 32 years Tom Hanks, as the star celebrated his 64th birthday. The singer and actress took to Instagram over the weekend to share a photo of the Forrest Gump star, who turned 64 last Thursday, alongside a sweet message.

“Happy Birthday, @tomhanks,” she wrote. “We love you so much. You are our anchor. Every day with you is a blessing.”

The actress, who along with Tom recovered from the coronavirus earlier this year, then shared lyrics from the 1967 Beatles love song ‘When I’m Sixty Four’. “Give me your answer, fill in a form. Mine forevermore. Will, you still need me, will you still feed me. When I’m sixty-four,” she wrote, to which she answered “YES”.

Tom, who’s currently in Greece with Rita celebrating his birthday, also marked the occasion by sharing a video on Instagram of himself diving into a pool. “This Greyhound is 64!! Hanx,” he captioned the video, referencing his new World War II movie, Greyhound.

Many fans were quick to wish the actor a happy birthday, with one writing: “A beautiful man!! Happy Birthday my friend.” Another added: “Happy happy birthday Tom!” While famous pal Julie Roberts said: “What a snap! Happy Birthday to Tom. I love him and YOU.”

The couple tied the knot in 1988 and share two sons together, Chet, 29, and Truman, 24. Tom also has two children from his previous marriage with Samantha Lewes, Colin, 42 and Elizabeth, 38.

Tom and Rita were among the first celebrities to come down with Covid-19. The Hollywood couple became infected with coronavirus and were placed into lockdown on Queensland’s Gold Coast earlier this year. And now, the Green Mile star has opened up about the terrifying diagnosis.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, he said: “When we were told we were found positive, we thought, ‘What? What did we win?’. Then you’re given the facts. We were told, ‘Here’s the reason why you have got to be careful; here’s the reason why it’s very important that you do your part’.”

Just a few months ago, Rita also personally opened up about her fight with Covid-19 and revealed first-hand the extent of the symptoms she and the Big star suffered after contracting the virus while in Australia.

“I was very tired,” she told CBS This Morning host Gayle King in April. “I felt extremely achy … uncomfortable, didn’t want to be touched and then the fever started. Chills like I’ve never had before. Looking back, I realise I was also losing my sense of taste and smell which I didn’t realise at the time.”
