Order up! Hugh Jackman reveals the surprise profession he wanted to pursue

He may be one of the most famous actors around, but Hugh Jackman hasn’t always envisioned a career in acting. Before he was landing roles in Hollywood, the 52-year-old wanted to be a chef on a plane.

The X-Men actor made the surprising revelation in an Instagram video on Monday. In the short clip, Hugh recalled his first flight, revealing that’s where he had the bright idea.

“I never forget my first flight overseas when we went to New Zealand,” he said. “So I was 9 or 10, and we were sitting there in the back, of course I was just in the aisle because my brother said ‘I’m having the window’.

“And all of the sudden I see this trolley coming out and I smell food, and I’m like ‘food, smells good, what is that?’. And they’re like ‘we’re getting lunch’.”

Hugh continued: “If anyone asked me from that point on, for an embarrassing three or four years after that, what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said a chef on a plane,” Hugh said in between laughs. “I honestly believed there was one. Never crossed my mind that it was a microwave!”

“My first flight,” Hugh captioned the post. “#fromwhwaticanremember. P.S. to a certain older brother who took the window seat … I’m still not over it.”

Fan of Hugh’s were quick to share their thoughts on the story, with one writing: “Hey, some planes have chefs onboard Hugh, so I think you can be forgiven for believing that. Sadly, not the kind of flights we used to go on as kids though.

Another cheekily added: “Served by Chef Hugh Jackman on an airplane … yes.” While a third wrote: “Aww this is so cute and innocent — but I would have fought for that window seat!!”

The new video comes a week after Hugh sent fans into a frenzy after he uploaded a photo of himself suited up. The 52-year-old was attending the UK premiere of Reminiscence, his new sci-fi thriller which is set to hit Aussie this week. Hugh plays Nick Bannister, a former soldier who now helps people revisit and re-experience their memories.

For the occasion, the X-Men star wore a charcoal grey suit matched with a white dress shirt and patterned tie. “Booted & Suited,” he captioned the post.

It didn’t take long before fans gushed over the photo, with one writing: “Hugh in a suit — another level of sexiness.”
