Long distance relationships can be tough, but one young couple have their mothers to thank for their emotional reunion after the two women arranged a surprise meet-up for their loved-up kids.

Nick Doyle, 30, and Gabi Angelini, 21, both have Down Syndrome and fell heads over heels for each other earlier this year at a national conference. The pair forgot to exchange numbers at the event in April but later reconnected on social media.

However, as Nick lives in Canton, Ohio, USA, and Gabi in Raleigh, North Carolina, the couple were forced to embark upon a long-distance relationship, which Nick’s mother Lisa Doyle describes as a “real life Cinderella story”.

The couple met up once again in June at another conference but following that trip the pair were faced with the prospect of being apart from each other as there were no more conferences coming up. According to Lisa, who shared the moving story on social media, Gabi broke down in tears to her mother Mary, which is when the two loving mums hatched a plan to bring them together again.

“A couple of weeks after they got back home [from Pittsburgh], Gabi broke down crying to her mom, telling her how much she missed Nick,” Lisa wrote on Facebook. “Mary, Gabi’s mom, reached out to me and we knew we had to do something to get them together.”

She added: “Mary booked a flight for her and Gabi to come to visit us in Canton. We decided we would try to surprise them. Mary told Gabi they were going to a conference…I told Nick a friend needed a ride home from the airport.”

Lisa also shared a heartwarming video clip of the moment the lovebirds were reunited at the airport on Facebook, with the footage being viewed more than 1.5 million times in just a matter of weeks. The emotional clip shows an unsuspecting Nick waiting patiently for who he thinks is a friend of his mothers.

The video takes a sweet turn though when Nick spots Gabi walking through the gate, with the 30-year-old improv performer falling to the ground in shock. The camera then pans to Gabi who is running towards her boyfriend who then picks her off the ground in a passionate embrace.

Many people have commented on the video, with one writing: “I love positive happy videos like this. All the best to the happy couple!” Another commented: “Crying at my desk how beautiful!! You can feel the love through this video.”

While a third person wrote: “I am sobbing over here! Beautiful. Enjoy your time together.”

Lisa added: “It’s truly remarkable that their relationship even blossomed as neither Nick nor Gabi have ever been in a relationship before. Nor did they have interest in having a relationship with someone with DS. But it truly was love at first sight!

“People with DS have no “warm up” time when it comes to love…they lean in and love fully. I’ve never seen Nick so happy in his 30 years. We feel confident there will be wedding bells in their future. May God continue to Bless these two.”
