A day of action for bullying and violence

Mar 21, 2014

Today is the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.

One in four Year 4 to Year 9 students reports being bullied every few weeks or more in Australia. And those stats only reflect those who have come forward.

There are events being held in schools across Australia today, including special parades, class activities, displays and competitions.

As grandparents, your unconditional love for your grandchildren is invaluable and so is your ability to read the signs when someone who you care for is a victim of bullying or violence. Today is a chance for you, as grandparents and even more so grandparent carers, to raise the issue of bullying with your children and grandchildren.

Everyone has a role in creating safe environments for children and young people to develop and grow into confident and happy adults.

For more information or to access resources visit the Bullying. No Way! website.

Have you ever had to take action against bullying on behalf of someone in your family? How has bullying changed since you were at school?
