Classic sultana biscuits

A great afternoon tea snack.

They’ve been lining tables at fates and fairs around the country for decades, but we’re still not sick of these classic Aussie saltana biscuits! Packed with juicy saltanas, brown sugar, honey and rolled oats, they’re the perfect treat to tuck into with your cuppa.

The best thing about these is that you can pack them into an airtight container to store in the fridge for up to three days. You can easily bake these in bulk and have them ready to satisfy any sweet cravings you might have throughout the week. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1 cup toasted muesli
  • 1 cup sultanas
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 125g butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 190C. Line two baking trays with baking paper. In a medium bowl, combine flour, muesli, sultanas, oats and sugar. Toss to combine.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine butter, honey and egg. Mix together. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients. Stir with wooden spoon until mixed together.
  3. Spoon two tablespoons of mixture onto prepared trays. Flatten slightly with back of spoon. Space evenly across the two trays. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Leave to cool completely. Serve.
