Karl has epic on air meltdown over mean media stories

‘I’m over it.’ Karl Stefanovic has hit out at a media site, accusing them of denigrating, ridiculing and objectifying woman.

Talking on The Today Show this morning Karl said The Daily Mail has written stories about  his colleagues, from Lisa wearing the same blouse, that Lisa and Sylvia couldn’t work together, and the so-called granny pants story, and he’d had enough.

“The idea that colleagues of the opposite sex cannot work together without something going on surely belongs to the 1950’s. And for most of Australia it does. But not, it seems, on this website,” Karl said on air.

He said he hoped Australia was over it as well.

“Go hard on me. Make up your stories. Publish your lies. Send out your paparazzi. But if you have a sliver of decency, if you have any care whatsoever for the women of Australia, do not slur the reputations of others in your eagerness to throw mud at me.”

It seems The Daily Mail was happy to take up his challenge. They responded to his rant, describing it as bizarre and a melt-down, over pictures of himself checking into a caravan park with 12 cans of Bundy rum. They also said viewers were accusing him of double standards.

The Daily Mail article says the rant was bizarre because they were accused of attacking women because of the photos. They also published a number of social media posts from members of the public describing Karl as a hypocrite.
