Fresh from a brilliantly received set at the Glastonbury Festival in late June, US singer/songwriter Lionel Ritchie is experiencing a surge in popularity.
Ritchie’s last number one album in the UK was 1992’s Back to Front, but that has rapidly changed this week with his 2003 compilation The Definitive Collection shooting straight to the top of the charts.
“I was overwhelmed performing at Glastonbury in front of all those people, and for the fans to make the album No 1 is unbelievable,” Richie said. “The UK has always been a special place for me”.
He was quick to upload a video thank you on his Twitter account:
Thank you to all my fans who helped me reach number 1 in the official UK album chart! #lovemyfans https://t.co/NJy4cQokDH

The track listing of The Definitive Collection is:
This is the ‘basic’ version of the album, other multi-disc versions contain more tracks, and there is a DVD version with video clips.
What do you think, is this *THE* definitive collection… are there any of your favourite Lionel Ritchie or The Commodores songs missing?
