The Countess of Wessex donned a big coat and scarf for a busy day of royal engagements on a chilly autumn day.

Sophie looked beautiful as always in the off-white coat and pale pink scarf during a visit to Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England.

The 53-year-old glowed as she met with children and staff at Fairfields School in Nothampton to mark its 80th anniversary.

It was an exciting moment everyone at the school which teaches children between the ages of three and 11 with severe or profound learning difficulties, communication and physical difficulties.

After spending some time with the students, the mother-of-two headed to Alfreton where she opened a new school- The David Nieper Academy.

Sophie was greeted with a roaring applause from students who gathered excitedly for her arrival.

The Countess had a hands on experience at the school, meeting students and supporters before taking part in a food and technology class.

This was not the end of Sophie’s engagements, as the much-loved royal then visited the David Nieper fashion house.

Here she enjoyed a tour of the factory floor where she met with staff and even tried her hand at being a seamstress.

It has been a busy few weeks for the countess who was spotted recently on a visit to the Royal Victoria Chapel in Hampshire.

Wearing a black turtle-neck top to protect her from the cold, the Countess of Wessex, kept her look classic and stylish as she coupled it with a long black skirt with white detailing down the side, as well as matching heeled knee-high boots.

There was a surprise waiting for her once there too, as she was greeted by a woman dressed as Queen Victoria during the visit. The mother-of-two stopped to chat to her hosts and smiled happily, visiting the chapel that is now the last remaining part of a military hospital which was opened by Queen Victoria in 1863.
