Nicole Kidman picks retro chic for day of champers and polo

Nicole Kidman rarely puts a foot wrong in the style stakes.

Nicole Kidman never lets us down on the style stakes, and just recently we were saying she’d rocked her best dress ever while at Cannes.

But we have have to think again, because the Aussie beauty had a gorgeous dress on at the Vueve Clicquot Polo Classic in New Jersey on Saturday – a high-necked, long-sleeved number that almost came to her ankles, but was made far from dowdy by a cute black belt that drew attention to her tiny waist.

Coupled with simple black sandals – wedge-heeled ones, hopefully, so to better stomp the divots at half time, a la Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman – and her hair in a low ponytail, the actress looked classy and cool at the same time.

Kidman has just finished what has to be a record-breaking run of fashion triumphs while launching multiple movies at the Cannes Film Festival in France, where she wowed in a punk ballerina style, retro sequins and frills, as a gypsy queen, as well as in stylish black, nude lace and daring black feathers.

Perhaps tired of glamming up, though, the actress shed her clothes for the cover of the latest Instyle magazine, wearing just a black jumper and little else.

Do you like the retro but cool dress Nicole’s wearing at the polo?
