Dr Phil’s heartfelt tribute to wife Robin on 42nd wedding anniversary

He’s been a fixture in living rooms across the world for years and Phillip C. McGraw aka Dr Phil has taken to social media with a touching tribute to his beloved wife Robin.

The pair married on this day 42 years ago and fans of the Dr Phil Show will recall that Robin often sits in the audience and joins her famous husband on stage. He’s taken a break from helping other people sort out their lives and has posted an adorable video for Robin.

Similar to a scene from the film Love Actually, Dr Phil doesn’t speak in the video. Instead, he holds up a series of flash cards telling Robin just how much she means to him and highlighting some of the best moments from their time together. Teamed with music by Amos Lee, it’s quite the emotional clip.
Being the 42nd year of their marriage, Dr Phil opted to focus on 42 events and memories the pair have shared as a couple.

He explained that some of the memories are completely random, while others weren’t. The TV star revealed his first date with Robin was on a plane. Other facts he revealed was that Robin’s wedding ring cost US$300 (AU$416, UK £236) and that the pair once slept on the lawn of a mental hospital.

Other memories were about their children Jordan and Jay, when the family packed up and moved to Beverly Hills and trips they’ve taken together.

“42 years of amazing memories, and many more to come,” he wrote on Twitter.

Fans were quick to praise the doc for his beautifully romantic gesture.

One person wrote: “This has to be one of the most precious things ever. Happy Anniversary. You both inspire so many.”

Another comment read: “Happy Anniversary to one of the cutest couples that are so devoted to helping people. This is such a meaningful and thoughtful way to celebrate your Anniversary.”

A third added: “Happy Anniversary to you both! 🙂 Very sweet. God knows just the people you need in your life at just the right moments. Congratulations on a life of memories and many more.”

Robin shared a tribute of her own and posted a collection of photographs from her marriage to Dr Phil.

“HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the love of my life,” she gushed. “HAPPILY EVER AFTER!

“I am a very happy woman. Very blessed.”
