Oh so high! Older Japanese businessmen challenge stereotypes

In a bid to challenge the “old” and “boring” stereotypes of Japanese businessmen, artist Yaki Aoyama has published a series of photographs to encourage everyone to get in touch with their inner child.

The series “lift me up”, published in a photo book last month, depicts the men playfully jumping in the air next to their daughters. The pictures are fun and lighthearted and show another side of the stiff and bland businessmen that you imagine.  The series acts as an escape to these men and rejects the ridicule that they endure from the media and younger generations.

This series has got us thinking about what kind of stereotypes we are all branded with, and how we all individually adapt or reject them.

Tell us, do you have any examples of how you reject or accept your stereotype (whatever it may be), or  do you have any stories of  how you release your inner child?
