Easily peel a hard boiled egg

Peeling a hard boiled egg seems like a simple task, but it is no easy feat. We have previously written on how to peel them using a cup and violently shaking it about. Although this does work, if you haven’t boiled your eggs hard enough it can result in a bit of a scramble.

Here is another tip, it involves much less physical activity and it works easily every time.

Here is how you do it:

  • Boil your egg as per usual and allow it to cool slightly. No need to let it cool completely, just a 30 seconds to a minute will do so that it is not too hot when you touch it.
  • Take a sharp knife and cut the egg in half, through the shell. Try and do this in one swift motion or chop, point the tip of the knife towards the chopping board and then press it down through the egg.
  • Take a teaspoon and run it along the edge, scooping the egg out of the shell.

It is as easy as that! No shaking or special ingredients required. And you have a beautiful boiled egg chopped in halves ready for a salad or to be some toast.

Do you have another way of doing it? Will you try this way?
