John Laws hits back at ‘PC police’ over skirt comments

John Laws as he appeared on The Project.

Who are you?

It’s not the answer radio host Em Rusciano was expecting when she offered an interview with John Laws.

The 2Day FM breakfast host blasted John Laws on air yesterday after he appeared on The Project, discussing his expectations on what his female employees wear to work.

On the Em Rusciano Show with Harley Breen the 38-year-old described 81-year-old Laws as an irrelevant, sexist, misogynist idiot who should not be on air, before offering herself as a guest on his own show. “I’ll wear a three-piece suit and smoke a cigar … Let’s sit down and have a chat buddy,” Rusciano said.

Laws was quick to respond in a typed private letter, signed in green texta which Rusciano read live on air this morning.

“M (I hope I have spelt that correctly). I have been told about the phone call from your very charming producer Kim, but I don’t know what you want. I can tell you what I don’t want, and that is to have some strange woman who I don’t know and probably don’t want to know, wander into my studio in a three-piece suit and smoking a cigar. Let alone wanting to call me Buddy! Dear, dear, dear you are a funny little person. I don’t know what the future holds for you but I do know it won’t include a so-called ‘irrelevant, sexist misogynist idiot who shouldn’t be on air’. P.S. By the way, who are you?”

For those of you who don’t know, Rusciano is a comedian, singer, and writer as well as a radio host. She also finished ninth on the second series of Australian Idol.

Rusciano said it was the most amazing letter she’s ever received. “I’m gonna be pen pals with John Laws, this is so exciting,” she joked, before saying Laws was welcome on their show anytime.

Has PC meant we can’t say what we think anymore?
