Two different doctors’ offices

Boy, if this doesn’t hit the nail on the head, I don’t know what does!

Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint.

Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.

The first patient is examined within the hour, is X-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.

The second sees his family doctor after waiting three weeks for an appointment, then waits eight weeks to see a specialist, then gets an X-ray, which isn’t reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for six months from then.

Why the different treatment for the two patients?

The first is a Golden Retriever.

The second is a Senior Citizen.

Next time take me to a vet!

And if there is no hope for you but to live in pain – the Golden Retriever will be put to sleep, painlessly.
You, Senior Citizen will linger on in pain for years, even decades – unless you have had the forethought to make other arrangements.

Just been watching Supervet on SBS …fabulous work being done however in order to save Gandolph the cat lots of unnecessary pain, he “put her to sleep” with the full approval of the 10 year old in the family who didn’t want Gandolph to suffer needlessly!! Unfortunately WE are not going to be shown the same compassion when our time comes.

Laye last year (2015) our GP told us my hubby would have to wait 4 yrs before his hip would be bad enough to see a specialist about a hip replacement. Hubby was not happy about the wait but said nothing to the doctor. Next time I went to the doctor I reminded him about hubbies bone density levels and asked how low would they be in 4 years. 6 months later (mid 2016) he finally gave hubby a referral to specialist of the GPs choosing. When we booked the initial consultation we were told we could not see the specialist until next July 2017, over 12 months away with a further 12 months wait for the actual surgery. When we were talking to a neighbour they were shocked at these dates and gave us the name & number for the specialist who did their hips, We rang them and saw him in 9 days, still a wait of 9 to 12 months fr the surgery, but it will be over a year faster than the original specialist. Yes this is all via the public system.
