As you may have read, today is the Billboard Music Awards, and while it’s been mostly filled with a lot of the world’s up and coming musical stars, there were a few of your older favourites in attendance.

If you thought Celine Dion’s performance of her song My Heart Will Go On had everyone talking, then you might have missed Cher’s return to the stage.

The 71-year-old singer took to the stage to perform two of her biggest hits – Believe and Turn Back Time – and she showed she’s still got it.

For her performance of Turn Back Time, Cher squeezed back into one of her most iconic outfits – the iconic see through black number she wore in the song’s film clip back in 1989.

And when she took to the stage for Believe, she wore a sheer, diamante, two-piece outfit.

She was later presented with the Icon Award, a prestigious award given to influential singers.

During her acceptance speech, Cher revealed she wanted to be a singer since she was four-years-old and pointed out she’s been doing it for 53 years now.

“I turned 71 yesterday,” she said.

“And I can do a five minute plank… just saying.”

She thanked a number of people including her mum, and made mention of her former husband, the late Sonny Bono.

“When I was really young my mum said ‘you’re not going to be the smartest, you’re not going to be the prettiest, you’re not going to be the most talented but you’re going to be special’,” Cher said.

“When I met Sonny he said the same thing. There was really nothing about me that led anyone to believe I was going to be special.”

She went on to say she had a lot of help in career and that luck had a lot to do with her success.

Watch her performance of Turn Back Time below and tell us what you think.
