For those who suffer with arthritis, it really can be crippling and hard to deal with.

1. Turmeric and ginger tea

As turmeric and ginger are both anti-inflammatories, they will help with oseto and rheumatoid arthritis. Turmeric contains an active ingredient called curcumin, which is a powerful antioxidant.

Mix 2 cups of water, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric in a saucepan until boiled. Strain into a mug, add honey and drink twice a day.


2. Pineapple juice

Massaging with mustard oil is an excellent way to get rid of arthritis or joint pain and inflammation. The oil works as a natural ointment and stimulates blood flow.

Simply heat some mustard oil until it is slightly warm, then rub gently over the painful joint. Cover with plastic wrap or a bandage and apply warm towels. Repeat this remedy daily before bed to feel relief.

4. Extra virgin olive oil

Oil lubricates by its very nature, so why not rub some on your joints? Rub a bit of olive oil onto your sore joints twice a day, massaging in to each one gently. You can also take 2-3 tablespoons daily, but be sure to give up some other form of fat due to the high calorie count in the oil.


5. Dandelion leaves

Dandelion leaves can help repair damaged tissue and help the liver clear toxins out of the blood.

Steep 3 teaspoons of fresh leaves in 1 cup of boiling water, then strain and drink twice daily. You can add honey to sweeten it up if you’d like.


6. Blackstrap molasses drink

High in valuable minerals such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium, blackstrap molasses has been a cherished home remedy for arthritis for a number of years. Blackstrap molasses produced after the third boiling of sugar syrup

Heat 1 cup of fresh water until warm, but not hot. Stir in a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses and drink once daily.


7. Peppermint eucalyptus oil blend

Peppermint and eucalyptus have pain-relieving properties. The cooling sensation that they produce can make you feel better and create a soothing sensation that can ease the pain of arthritis.

Gently mix 5-10 drops of eucalyptus and peppermint oil together, and then mix into 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil. Store in a dark glass bottle away from direct sunlight, and rub into your joints when they ache.

    • My mother also did the prunes and gin and she swore by it.

  2. Also turmeric with added circumin (which helps body absorb it) is excellent – i know a few people with MS who also take this – but needs to be a high dose in a 1 a day capsule.

  3. An alkaline diet helps. Also this remedy every day: juice of half a lemon, 1 teaspoon bicarb soda (aluminium free) in 250 ml water.

    • Just be careful with the lemon juice if taking cholesterol tablets as they won’t be effective I would check with your doctor.

  4. Those looking to use turmeric. Check out with you doc. I can’t get clear info but could act like warfarin etc so if you are already on it !!!!

  5. My grandmòther used to have epson salts back in the 50’s good to see the old remedies come back ☺
