Traditional creamy chocolate mousse

It’s hard to beat a classic and creamy chocolate mousse as a dessert, and this recipe captures that delicious taste that everyone loves in a few simple steps.

Top off the mousse with a dollop of cream and some chocolate shavings and you have yourself a gourmet-looking dessert treat that is super simple to create. Ingredients

  • 200g milk chocolate, or dark chocolate, broken
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 tablespoon Kahlua, or other liqueur of choice
  • 300ml carton thickened cream
  • Whipped cream, extra, to serve
  • Chocolate, grated, to serve

Method

  1. Place chocolate in a heat-proof bowl over saucepan of simmering water. Stir for 2-3 minutes until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  2. Add in egg yolks and Kahlua and blend together. Cool slightly.
  3. Whip cream in bowl until soft peaks form. Gently fold into chocolate mixture.
  4. Add egg whites to a clean bowl. Beat until soft peaks form. Lightly fold into chocolate mixture. Spoon into serving dishes. Chill overnight until firm. Serve with whipped cream and grated chocolate.
