New miniseries set to be game changing for US politics

Tom Hanks will be involved with this new project.

If the antics of the recent US presidential election weren’t enough, you can watch them all again on the small screen.

Tom Hank’s Playtone company has a new miniseries in the planning, covering the 2016 US presidential campaign that saw Donald Trump upset Hillary Clinton to take office.

The Hollywood Reporter said HBO is set to chronicle the events of the election, much as they did in 2012 telepic Game Change — only this time it will be expanded to a miniseries.

Game Change, starring Julianne Moore as presidential nominee Sarah Palin, was nominated for 12 Emmys and won five, including for outstanding TV movie, director, writing and actress for Moore (below).

The yet-to-be-titled project will be directed by Jay Roach and based on source material from Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.

The duo’s book about Trump’s stunning 2016 upset over Hillary Clinton is set to be published by Penguin Press.

HBO Films president Len Amato issued a statement about the project.

“Reuniting Game Change director and executive producer Jay Roach and Playtone producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman with Mark and John for a project based on their upcoming book promises to vividly capture the most unique and impactful event in modern American politics,” Len Amato wrote.

The question now remains, who will play the leading roles in the show?

Are you looking forward to watching this miniseries?
