While politicians are often quick to boast about their own achievements in office, it’s rare for world leaders to receive so much praise for doing so. However that’s precisely what happened to New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern this week after she posted a video which showed her boasting about all the good she’s done since being elected into the top job.

Ardern, who was elected as New Zealand’s leader two years ago, recorded the two-minute video in honour of the anniversary of her election success, revealing her team challenged her to cram all of her milestone moments into the short window of time.

The video, which has since been widely shared on social media, begins with Ardern saying: “Kia Ora everyone. So this week is the two-year anniversary of the creation of this government and the team has decided to set me a challenge to see whether or not I can run through the last two years in two minutes. So here’s some key headline achievements.”

She then goes on to reel off a succession of what she considers to be her government’s greatest achievements, including; creating 92,000 jobs, planting 140 million trees, creating an essential cancer agency, increasing minimum wage to NZ$17.70. She then goes on to say: “We’ve brought unemployment to the lowest rate in 11 years, we’ve got the highest increase in wages in a decade.”

Other achievements she mentions include the winter energy payments, the families package and increased funding for New Zealand schools, as well as deploying 1,607 new police officers across the country and banning single-use plastic bags.

Fans of the politician were quick to heap praise on the PM, including many Aussies who claimed that the mum-of-one is “what Australia needs”. One person wrote: “THIS IS WHAT AUSTRALIA NEEDS. Would you like to buy Australia Jacinda? Congratulations and I’m VERY jealous.” The Twitter user also tagged Labor leader Anthony Albanese, Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers and former party leader Bill Shorten in the tweet.

Another impressed person said: “How can you not: 1. Love her. 2. Envy New Zealand because of her. 3. And curse our own leaders because they can’t even come close to her in intelligence, compassion and unifying leadership.”

While a third commented: “I so wish I was a Kiwi. Instead I’m an Aussie who has to endure  @ScottMorrisonMP. Thank you @jacindaardern for leading the way because us Aussies have no hope at the moment!”

Disgruntled Brits – no doubt fed up with Brexit – also commented: “Can she come to the UK and take over here please?”

However it seems not everyone was impressed, with one person writing: “She’s quite scary when she gets into full lying mode, isn’t she? Overly animated or something.”

And another said: “As a New Zealander … Ardern is a PR wizard, not a prime minister.”
