Former politician Barnaby Joyce and his partner Vikki Campion have welcomed their second son into the world.

The couple extended their family by one on Saturday night with the arrival of the baby boy, The Daily Telegraph reports.

According to the publication the little bundle of joy, named Tom, was born at Armidale public hospital in New South Wales, like his brother Sebastian. Tom is named after Joyce’s grandfather Thomas.

The bub is the second child of Joyce and Campion who welcomed their first son, Sebastian Curtis Scott Joyce, last April. Sebastian made his TV debut during an episode of Channel Seven’s Sunday Night last year, earning the family $150,000.

In January this year the former deputy prime minister announced news of his partner’s second pregnancy in footage obtained by 7 News.

“I want to put an apology for Vikki, couldn’t make it up today, but we are actually having another child called Tom. So there you go,” he said at a fundraiser event.

Joyce already shares four children with his ex-wife Natalie. He revealed in late 2017 that he separated from his wife of more than two decades and later confirmed he had been conducting a lengthy affair with Campion, who was by then pregnant with their son.

Joyce’s relationship with his former adviser made headlines when the Daily Telegraph published a picture of a pregnant Campion and claimed the pair were living together and expecting a baby. Reports at the time hinted heavily that Joyce and Campion’s relationship started as far back as April 2017, while he was still married to Natalie. She also released a statement at the time confirming she knew the pair had been a couple for “many months”, including while Campion was the Nationals leader’s employee.
