Nick Kyrgios has been slammed for his bad boy behaviour at an overseas tennis tournament with many claiming it’s time for him to grow up.

The Aussie “bad boy” was up to his old tricks again at the Citi Open in Washington with footage capturing him throwing a water bottle angrily at the umpire’s chair.

Kyrgios was taking some time out, part way through his match against Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka when he turned to his left and threw the bottle with much force.

The 24-year-old then tried to defend his actions claiming it was simply an accident.

“It slipped out my hands!” he exclaimed.

The umpire shot back: “My chair! What are you… ”

Before Kyrgios cut him off adding again: “Yeah, but it slipped out of my hand. I was trying to have a drink and it slipped out my hand.”

“Nick, the computer almost fell off,” the shocked umpire replied.

Despite the spurt of rage, Kyrgios went on to win the match 6-2, 7-5 and will progress onto the quarter finals to face Slovakia’s Norbert Gombos.

While a third said: “Discipline issue. Reprimand or fine?”

Kyrgios’ latest outburst comes just weeks after receiving two fines totalling $US8,000 (AU$11,471) for his behaviour during Wimbledon.

According to a news.com.au report, the Australian tennis player received one fine of US$3,000 relating to his first round win over Jordan Thompson and then US$5,000 for his second round loss to Rafael Nadal.

The 24-year-old crashed out of The Championships after being beaten by Nadal, however it was his antics during the first set which garnered the most attention as he had some cross words with umpire Damien Dumosois.

The row began when Kyrgios complained about Nadal’s speed of play, asking Dumosois: “Why am I waiting to serve?” He then went on to say: “When he’s serving, he’s controlling the temp.
