A little black dress has been a wardrobe essential for women for years on end, and now Liz Hurley has proved it’s still a must have item.

Even with fashion changing year-by-year, the former model said the LBD will always be the go-to outfit for herself – and it certainly looked amazing on the mother-of-one.

Taking to social media this week to show off her latest look, Liz sported a huge smile on her face as she posed for photos in the gorgeous frock featuring a plunging neckline.

“If I can’t think what to wear, I slip on a black velvet dress #timeless,” Liz wrote on her Instagram page.

The long-sleeved velvet dress was the perfect with for the 54-year-old, hugging her body firmly and tucking in at the waist to show off her gorgeous figure. Meanwhile, she kept her long brunette locks down and slightly waved and added to the outfit with dark eyeliner and a nude lip.

Fans were quick to comment on the model’s latest outfit, with many complimenting her on her beautiful features and fantastic fashion sense.

“The most beautiful woman in the world! @meursault_the_stranger wrote.

“You could slip on a black plastic garbage bag and still look breathtaking!” @michael.john505 commented.

“You look beautiful in it,” @stynm2 said.

While Liz has made a name for herself as a model, actress and businesswoman, she is also known widely as the ex of former Australian cricketer Shane Warne. Although the couple has been separated for six years Shane has spoken out about their relationship numerous times since.

Last year in a deeply personal interview with Leigh Sales on the ABC’s 7.30 show, the sportsman revealed some of his biggest life regrets, from his failed marriage and relationships, to letting his children down in the past.

The emotional star said he even saw a psychologist during his relationship with Liz, in a final push to find happiness and overcome his regrets.

Recalling the moment on camera, he said one of the first things he was asked to do in the session was to write his own obituary – something he tried several times to do, but really struggled with. It inspired him to make a change and be happier with who he is.

The chat also addressed Shane’s current single life following the end of his relationship with Liz. They enjoyed a very high profile romance from 2010 until 2013 and were often pictured out at red carpet events and parties, putting on loved up displays together.

They have since remained friends, but Shane admitted at the time, he missed having a partner.

“It’s lonely at times, travelling the world, commentating, playing poker, doing sponsored things, being away a lot in hotel rooms… I don’t think there’s anything better than a great relationship,” he said.
