As 2,000 passengers board their luxury liner, each one has an agenda.

For some, their goal is nothing more strenuous than enjoying the pool, the food and perhaps experiencing life on a Pacific Island. Some have saved long and hard for this experience of a lifetime, others are old hands at the cruising life.

As their ship moves effortlessly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, with seemingly only millimetres to spare, each silently sends their desire to the universe.

In Table for Eight, author Tricia Stringer takes us on such a cruise from Sydney to the Pacific Islands with a cast of diverse characters, some charming, but all carrying more than clothes in their luggage.

Did you read Jennifer Larmar ‘s review of  Table for Eight recently published on Starts at 60? click title to read Jennifer’s review.

Jennifer will lead us in a discussion of Table for Eight later in October, see her posts on The Book Club – A Starts at 60 Club.

Our sponsor HQ Fiction provided us with an extract to share with our Starts at 60 Community and I started reading the first three chapters. I love the way Tricia introduces her chapters eg Day One- White Bay Cruise Terminal SydneyDay One – Sydney Harbour, Night One – At Sea, immediately placing us in time and place. Like Jennifer, I also enjoyed Tricia’s writing style and how she flows seamlessly from one character ad their story to the next.

It seemed that a trip to the library was warranted, but I learned just how popular Tricia Stringer’s books are; I was invited to reserve a copy, which would be available in April 2019! Couldn’t wait that long and instead downloaded a copy to my eBook. I’m thoroughly enjoying reading more about Ketty and the guests at her Table for Eight. If you would like a taste of Table for Eight, click on the title to be taken to an extract.

Table for Eight, Tricia Stringer, is available in printed and digital editions from the publisher HQ Fiction.
