Luxury Balinese women’s wellness retreat, Escape Haven, has launched what it says is the island’s first dedicated ‘Menopause Retreat’, aimed at supporting women through the physical, emotional and hormonal changes associated with midlife.

The program has been developed following years of discussions with guests and is designed for women typically in their 40s and 50s, a demographic that retreat founder Janine Cottle says has been historically under-served in both education and care.

“Menopause came up again and again in conversations on retreat,” said Cottle.

“Women were confused, overwhelmed and often starved for clear, reliable information. There’s an enormous amount of noise around menopause, and it was still treated as a taboo subject. We wanted to change that and create a space where women feel informed, supported and understood.”

Unlike general wellness programs, the Menopause Retreat is structured around personalised care. Guests complete detailed health questionnaires and diagnostic assessments before arrival, allowing individualised programs to be developed rather than applying a standardised approach.

Cottle said the group retreat setting also plays an important role in the experience.

“We know from our other programs how transformative it can be when women come together around shared experiences. Menopause doesn’t need to be navigated alone, and there is real comfort and empowerment in community,” she added.

Science-backed therapies

In addition to workshops and movement sessions, the retreat includes a range of treatments such as joint and inflammation therapies, collagen-focused facials and biohacking options including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and red light therapy. Guests also participate in contrast therapy, daily spa treatments and cultural activities, including a traditional Balinese blessing ceremony.

The retreat is located beside a river in Canggu, close to Bali’s coast, offering a secluded environment designed to allow guests to focus exclusively on their health.

Through the launch of the Menopause Retreat, Escape Haven is positioning itself not only as a luxury wellness destination, but also as an advocate for greater awareness, education and preventative care for women navigating menopause and midlife health.

Holistic structure

According to the resort, the Escape Haven Menopause Retreat is built around three core pillars – body, mind and soul – reflecting its broader wellness philosophy.

Physical elements include diagnostic testing, movement programs focused on bone density, muscle maintenance and hormonal health, as well as functional fitness, Pilates and nutritional support. Meals are prepared by in-house chefs and designed to reduce inflammation, stabilise energy levels and support overall wellbeing.

Mental wellbeing is also addressed through expert-led workshops covering lifestyle interventions, education and practical tools that guests can continue to use once they return home. These sessions are intended to reinforce menopause as a natural life transition rather than a medical failure.

Restorative practices such as yin yoga, meditation, breathwork and mindfulness make up the soul component, aimed at helping guests manage stress and maintain emotional balance during periods of change.
