Superstar Sir Elton John has reignited fans’ hopes of seeing him perform live again, despite recently announcing his retirement from touring.

Although his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour marked the end of his life on the road, his recent memoir offers a glimmer of hope that audiences may see him back on stage someday soon.

In his new book, Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories of My Life on Tour, Sir Elton reveals that fans might still have the chance to catch him perform live.

“I’ve been clear with my fans that while the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is the culmination of my touring career, I still plan to perform live,” Sir Elton wrote.

“What this will entail I don’t know yet.”

Though details remain scarce, one thing is certain: Elton’s deep love for performing. During the final show of his farewell tour, he called his fans his “lifeblood” and “soul.”

“I’ve had the most wonderful career, beyond belief. Fifty-two years of pure joy playing music, how lucky am I to play music?” Sir Elton said.

“But I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, albums and CDs and, more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows and you know how I love to play live.

This news offers a glimmer of hope for fans that Elton may return to the spotlight, despite the 77-year-old revealing he now has “limited vision” after battling a “severe eye infection.”

Despite the concerning health news, Sir Elton took recently to social media to assure fans he’s still standing, though it will take “some time” to fully recover from the infection.

“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” he explained.

“I am healing but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.

In a touching display of support, fans flooded social media with heartfelt best wishes for the beloved musician’s speedy recovery.

“Sending our love and support your way. Feel better soon, friend,” one fan wrote.

“Take your time and recover, Elton. We’ll be here waiting for your return when you’re healthy and ready,” commented another.

Sir Elton’s latest health setback comes after he was hospitalised in August 2023 after experiencing a fall at his villa in France.

After experiencing “a slip”, the British superstar was taken to the Princess Grace hospital in Monaco where he underwent precautionary treatment.

“Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” a spokesperson told the BBC at the time.
