As a grandfather of five, King Charles III has nailed answering children’s curious questions, and his hilarious interaction with one cheeky pupil proves it.
On Tuesday, October 18, King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla travelled to East London to pay a visit to Project Zero a youth organisation aiming to promote positive social inclusion.
Upon arriving at the venue, the royal couple were met with a swarm of primary school children all eager to chat with the King. The royal engagement immediately took a hilarious turn after one young girl piped up and asked the Monarch a very compelling question.

As seen in a video shared on Twitter by Sky News’ Rhiannon Mills, the King can be heard asking the children about their upcoming school break when a little girl asks “how old are you, King Charles?”
The 73-year-old laughed and said, “you can have a guess. Have a guess.”
To which one kid enthusiastically replied with “96!”
Luckily, His Majesty took the conversation in good humour and offered a giggle in response before directing his attention to a nearby teacher.
This isn’t the first time a member of the Royal family has shown off their funny side during a royal outing. Charles’ son, Prince William, has made a few cheeky jokes in the past.
In June this year, the ever-mischievous Prince William made a hilarious joke about his disappearing hairline while awarding Oscar-nominee and film stylist, Martin Samuel an MBE.
More recently, William and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, showed off their playful side when they guest hosted BBC Newsbeat. Listeners were left in stitches after an outtake of Kate teasing William for practising his radio voice played just before the couple’s segment wrapped up.
The Queen Consort has cracked a few jokes at her own expense. During a reception for International Women’s Day at Clarence House earlier this year, Camilla made light of her character’s portrayal on the Netflix series The Crown after having had the opportunity to meet her fictional counterpart, Emerald Fennell.
“For me, it’s very reassuring to know that if I should fall off my perch at any moment, my fictional alter ego is here to take over,” Camilla had said at the time.
Even the late Queen Elizabeth II has made the occasional morbid jokes here and there, having made a wisecrack comment about not being able to move just as she started facing health issues.
Charles and Camilla’s lighthearted day at Project Zero comes after the couple visited Aberdeen, where they met with Ukrainian, Syrian, and Afghanistan refugees and learned of the city’s efforts to help resettle the families.
