After a whirlwind year, the festive season has finally arrived which means it’s time to whip out the decorations and start belting out some carols. But one of the most important parts of Christmas is of course the festive baking, and this year, the royal family has you covered.
The royals have always been big fans of both cooking and Christmas time, so it’s no surprise they wanted to share their favourite recipes with everyone as soon as the season has kicked off. And this year was no different with the royal cooks taking to Instagram to share their recipe for the perfect Christmas pudding.
A video of the recipe alongside a full ingredients list which makes two 1kg puddings was posted to the royal family’s official Instagram page. The video came with a caption that explained the importance of kicking off the festive season by baking the famous Christmas pudding.
“Today is Stir-up Sunday: traditionally the day when home cooks ‘stir up’ their Christmas pudding mixture on the Sunday before the Advent season — and the countdown to Christmas — begins,” they wrote. “This year, chefs in the Royal kitchens have shared their recipe for a traditional Christmas pudding. We hope that some of you enjoy making it in your own homes.”

The recipe provided the entire ingredients list as well as details on what to do for those who plan to make the special, festive desserts in advance but still want to enjoy it on Christmas day.
“The recipe will make two 1kg puddings. Ingredients as follows:
On Christmas Day, reheat your pudding in a bain-marie for 3-4 hours. Remove from the basin using a rounded knife or palette knife, flip out onto a plate, garnish or flambé and serve with brandy sauce and cream.”
Fans were excited to whip up the tasty dish with one writing: “Thanks for sharing the recipe! I’m Italian and I’ve always wanted to prepare it”. While another tagged their friend saying: “We should attempt these for a royal Christmas!”
The post came just after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced their beloved dog Lupo recently passed away after nine long years in the family. Prince William and Catherine shared a heartbreaking tribute to their “dear dog” where they called him the “heart” of their family.
“Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away,” they wrote alongside a gorgeous picture of Lupo. “He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much — W & C.”
