Prince Harry has always been known as the troublemaker amongst his family. As a teenager, he regularly made headlines for his bad behaviour and was often seen in the media either intoxicated or feuding with the paparazzi.

In recent years however, he has caused a different sort of trouble for his family members. Since marrying actress Meghan Markle in 2018, Prince Harry’s relationship with his family has become increasingly strained. In 2020, the two of them stepped down as working members of the royal family and moved to California.

This was a controversial move, as his wife had already regularly been accused of drawing him away from the royal family. Over the next few years, and after several bombshell interviews and a revealing Netflix documentary, they appeared to distance themselves more and more from the Firm.

Earlier this year, his memoir Spare made headlines for its tell-all look into his life, revealing many secrets that had previously been hidden from the public. Since then, things between Harry and his family have been frosty at best.

According to some well-placed insiders, Charles is reportedly furious about Harry describing his step-mother, Queen Camilla, as “ambitious and ruthless” and prepared to “sacrifice” him for her own ends.

But despite the animosity, the King still seeks reconciliation with his son with the The Sunday Times  recently reporting that Prince Harry has turned down an invitation to his father, King Charles’ upcoming 75th birthday on the 14th of November.

The King is expected to celebrate his birthday one week from today at Clarence House in London but insiders say Prince Harry declined the opportunity to spend this milestone birthday with his father.

This is the second occasion this year where the errant prince has snubbed the royal family on a special occasion.

Earlier this year Prince Harry reportedly rejected a potential peace offering on the sombre occasion of the first anniversary of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

The offer, which is believed to have been an attempt to bring healing to the fractured relationship between father and son, appeared to fall on deaf ears.

Instead of joining his family in Balmoral where the Queen peacefully passed away last year, Harry paid his respects to his grandmother at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor, where she is buried.

At the time editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine and royal expert Ingrid Seward said, “For Harry, this was a missed opportunity,

“He should have braved it out and gone to see them. If the King invites you to Balmoral, then most people would cancel all of their travel plans. He could have easily rearranged things slightly to allow himself the time.”

“Any attempts for a rapprochement must be on the King’s terms,” Seward said.

As a symbol of unity in Britain, King Charles reportedly has a strategic need to reconcile with his son and resolve the rift in his family.

He has extended the olive branch to Harry twice this year, but this latest development quashes any hopes for a reconciliation between the two in the near future.
