Australian rock icon Jimmy Barnes has thrilled fans once again by showing that he’s back on his feet and recovering well following hip surgery.

The positive update comes after the Working Class Man hitmaker shocked fans when he shared the unfortunate news that he had been admitted to hospital recently after a “twinge” in his hip became “unbearable” and was to undergo “a remedial medical procedure ASAP”.

While expressing his heartfelt gratitude to his fans for their support during his recovery, Barnes shared a video of himself making his way down the hospital corridors on crutches.

“Day 5 post hip op, I’m on crutches for hallway walks and exercises,” he wrote alongside the footage.

“I have to thank everyone doing their best to get me back on my feet again. That includes all of you cheering me on.”

Fans were overjoyed to see Barnes up and about following his latest health scare while wishing him all the best in his ongoing recovery.

“Go Jimmy!!! Get well soon,” one fan wrote.

“Awesome to see Jimmy.”

“Look at you go.,, good on you Jimmy!!” commented another.

“Jimmy is one tough bloke, so determined nothing will stop you!”

Barnes’ current hospital stay follows his recent triumph over a series of health challenges.

Late last November, the 68-year-old fought a bout of bacterial pneumonia, and shortly after, he stunned fans by revealing he needed open-heart surgery due to the infection’s spread.

“Unfortunately I got some bad news late yesterday … despite everyone’s best efforts the bacterial infection I’ve been battling over the last fortnight has apparently now spread to my heart,” he said at the time

“It’s infected an otherwise healthy valve that was replaced some years ago due to a congenital defect, so I’ll be getting open-heart surgery over the next few hours to clear out this infection and put in a clean valve.

“Obviously this is going to take me out of action for a while. I know lots of other people are battling even worse things but it still feels hugely frustrating.

“Just a few weeks ago I was the fittest I’ve been in decades!”

Barnes swiftly overcame concerns, making significant strides in his recovery and sharing uplifting updates. He eventually returned to the stage, much to the delight of his fans.
