With nothing more than a photo and an encouraging update from his hospital bed, rock icon Jimmy Barnes has brought a smile to concerned fans across the nation as he continues his latest health battle.
The Working Class Man hitmaker shocked fans when he shared the unfortunate news that he had been admitted to hospital over the weekend.
“I’ve got some bad news unfortunately. I had a twinge in my hip when I was leaving Dunedin on Thursday morning and by late last night the pain was unbearable so I went off to hospital,” he explained in a social media post.
“The doctors have recommended a remedial medical procedure ASAP followed by some physio to address the issue. These doctors don’t muck around! Providing all goes to plan, I’m expected to make a full recovery in six weeks.
“However, as a result of this unexpected surgery my August and September solo shows will all be impacted. Ticket holders will be contacted with further info in the coming days once we have new plans in place.
“As you know, I hate to let anyone down, but I’m also never going to compromise the quality of my gigs. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause everyone – I HATE moving shows! – but thank you for understanding.”
Now, in a welcome update for fans, Barnes shared news of a “special visit” from his daughter and revealed that he was allowed to change out of his hospital gown, all of which surely lifted the spirits of the legendary entertainer.
“A special visit from @ellymaybarnes who’s been working hard on a great project that she’ll soon tell you about,” he wrote.
“They’ve let me out of the blue gown, I can’t tell you how good that feels. Seared tuna dinner from home, this I can eat.”
