Aussie rock icon Jimmy Barnes has delivered some encouraging news to his fans amidst his latest health struggle, announcing that he has “turned a corner”.

The positive update comes after the Working Class Man hitmaker shocked fans when he shared the unfortunate news that he had been admitted to hospital recently after a “twinge” in his hip became “unbearable” and was to undergo “a remedial medical procedure ASAP”.

Despite initial concerns for his well-being, the 68-year-old recently revealed that he is “making steady progress” in a positive update shared to social media.

“I turned a corner today. Making steady progress and doing my best not to rush anything,” he shared.

“Felt great to get outside for some good old Darlinghurst air. Thankful my @jane13barnes is always by my side.”

Fans were delighted to hear Barnes’ positive update and quickly expressed their support with an outpouring of encouraging messages.

“It’s good to see you looking better Jimmy,” one wrote.

“Great to see Jimmy. Keep it up.”

“Wonderful to hear Jimmy,” commented another.

“Good news. Don’t rush are words to remember. Jane is truly inspirational.”

Barnes’ current hospitalisation comes after the 68-year-old had just recently triumphed over another series of health challenges.

In late November last year, Barnes battled with a bout of bacterial pneumonia. Later he shocked fans with the revelation that he was set to undergo open-heart surgery after the infection spread.

“Unfortunately I got some bad news late yesterday … despite everyone’s best efforts the bacterial infection I’ve been battling over the last fortnight has apparently now spread to my heart,” he said at the time

“It’s infected an otherwise healthy valve that was replaced some years ago due to a congenital defect, so I’ll be getting open-heart surgery over the next few hours to clear out this infection and put in a clean valve.

“Obviously this is going to take me out of action for a while. I know lots of other people are battling even worse things but it still feels hugely frustrating.

“Just a few weeks ago I was the fittest I’ve been in decades!”

Barnes quickly defied concerns, making progress in his recovery while sharing encouraging updates and eventually returning to the stage, much to the delight of his fans.
