Unlike her more traditional royal counterparts, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands is never one to shy away from a fashion-forward frock and she proved so once again in a colourful dress at an awards ceremony in Amsterdam on Monday.
The 47-year-old upped the royal style stakes in the blue dress, which featured yellow, red and pink detailing, along with a feathered hem, for the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds awards in Amsterdam.
She teamed the bold dress with a pair of red heels and a co-ordinating clutch. Wearing her blonde locks up in a chignon, the mother-of-three finished off the stylish look with a pair of statement turquoise earrings.
She was attending the ceremony to present this year’s Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds award to Dutch conductor and composer Reinbert de Leeuw. The fund was established by Prince Bernhard in London in 1940 during World War II, and now supports culture, nature and science in the Netherlands.

The Argentinian-born royal has had a busy schedule over the past few weeks. Last month, Maxima and husband King Willem-Alexander enjoyed a state visit to the UK, where they attended a banquet hosted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.
The visit served to further cement ties between the two royal families, who have spent time together over the years. The two-day visit included meet-ups with extended members of the royal family, including the Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, Prince Charles and Camilla, as well as Prince William and Catherine, and trips to popular tourist spots around London.
Both royal families brought plenty of glamour to the official state banquet honouring the quick tour, with Maxima dazzling in a navy sheer gown that cinched in at the waist before billowing out into a full length skirt.

Queen Elizabeth looked equally as beautiful in a gorgeous floor-length white gown, white gloves and a silver tiara. The 92-year-old paired the outfit with a small white bag, which hung from her wrist, and a beaded silver necklace and bracelet.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge was also in attendance and wowed in a stunning blue ball gown, which fitted in at the waist and then flared out elegantly just above the knee.
Designed by Alexander McQueen, the beautiful gown featured a special royal family order of the Queen, a badge with the sovereign’s portrait on a yellow ribbon. Catherine chose to pair the dress with some equally stunning jewellery, including a beautiful tiara that previously belonged to Princess Diana, as well as pearl earrings, a pearl necklace and a simple silver bracelet.
