Daddy-daughter duo go viral for adorable handmade matching outfits

There are few things as sweet as the bond between father and daughter and one dad in particular from the United States is going viral for the creative way he’s chosen to spend time with his little girl. Michael Gardner, 36, started sewing in 2014 as a way of bonding with his daughter Ava, who was three at the time.

Now, the talented self-taught tailor shows off his skills on his popular Instagram page and blog to showcases the adorable matching outfits he hand-makes for himself and his daughter, who’s now nine years old.

On his blog, Daddy Dressed Me, Michael said he started the project as a way for Ava to “build her self-esteem and establish confidence in herself and her abilities”. In the beginning, he started his sewing journey by simply refashioning second-hand clothes for Ava to wear before finally creating his own pieces from scratch.

He went on to say that once he got the hang of things, sewing gave him a feeling that he’d never gotten with any other craft before, and he loved seeing the pieces he’d created worn by either himself or his daughter.

“Being a Father is my most important responsibility and what I am most proud of in life,” Michael wrote on his blog. “It is a blessing to be able to combine my journey of fatherhood with my love of creativity while creating memories with my child.”

Michael said he learned most of his skills through “trail and error” and by watching Youtube and Pinterest tutorials before just sitting down and giving it a red-hot go.

Michael regularly posts his creations on his Instagram page, which has now amassed more than 21,500 followers. And with over 200 completely unique creations, there’s no shortage of outfit photos for fans to scroll through.

Over the years, the daddy-daughter duo have built a large fan base with people regularly sharing kind words of encouragement. One wrote: “Way to go, dynamic duo! Congratulations on your deal and here’s to creating more magic.”

Another said: “Omg y’all are so cute!!! That fabric is gorgeous and I love how each outfit is unique.”
