Princess Eugenie looks princess-perfect as she returns to old school

She’s had a difficult time getting the fashion critics on side in the past, but Princess Eugenie was the picture of elegance as she stepped out in a summery green dress for a visit to her old school on Thursday.

Eugenie has been criticised in the past for some of her event wear, particularly for the eye-catching headwear she chose for Prince William’s wedding to Catherine in 2011. But the princess has looked more stylish and sophisticated as of late and looked stunning as she took a trip down memory lane at her old school, Marlborough College, to open the newly refurbished Memorial Hall.

The 28-year-old, kept it relatively simple in a green dress, which she team with a nude belt and matching pair of heels. She showed off her shorter hair in a casual style, and appeared to have a marvellous time seeing how her old stomping ground had changed since she graduated in 2008.

The princess was shown around the school, and shared snaps of herself looking at students’ artwork, giving a speech, and unveiling a plaque for the new Memorial Hall.

The royal shared snaps of the engagement on her Instagram account, and wrote alongside them: “Such a lovely day going to see my old school, Marlborough College and opening the newly refurbished Memorial Hall, built to honour the 749 former pupils that lost their lives on the battlefield in WWI. So many happy memories visiting my old art school and house.”

Fans of the royal were quick to comment, with one writing: “Loving the whole look @princesseugenie. Your outfit is a work of art itself.”

Another added: “I’ve been watching you grow up since you were born. I’m very impressed with the wonderful woman you have become.”

The princess is one of the few royals to have a personal Instagram account, and regularly updates her followers with insights into her busy schedule.

Eugenie delighted royal fans recently when she shared a never-before-seen family portrait to social media. The 28-year-old uploaded the childhood snap and captioned the adorable photo: “90s flashback with Bea and parents to when my father commanded HMS Cottesmore.”

The image shows the young princess and her sister Beatrice, now 29, sitting on the laps of their parents, the Duke and Duchess of York.

Eugenie is set to marry her long-term partner Jack Brooksbank on October 12 at St George’s Chapel – the same venue where Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex said their vows in May.
